This forthcoming HBO series is positioned between the storylines of House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, focusing on the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his youthful squire, Egg, rather than detailing the historical wars and rivalries of noble houses.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms plot
This new prequel to Game of Thrones is adapted from Tales of Dunk and Egg, a series of three stories authored by George R.R. Martin. It narrates the journeys and adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (nicknamed Dunk) and his young squire, Egg, who is later known as King Aegon V Targaryen.
The narrative is set 72 years following the events of House of the Dragon and 90 years before Game of Thrones. The initial season is expected to concentrate on the first tale, titled The Hedge Knight, which details Dunk and Egg’s first encounter and Dunk’s altercation with Prince Aerion Targaryen.
The official series description states:
A century prior to the events of Game of Thrones, two unanticipated heroes roamed Westeros … a courageous but somewhat naive young knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his small squire, Egg. Set in an era when the Targaryen dynasty still reigns over the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet faded, they will encounter great destinies, formidable enemies, and numerous adventures.

George R.R. Martin has commented that The Hedge Knight evokes the spirit of Game of Thrones:
The Dunk & Egg novellas are complete narratives that resemble the novels of A Song of Ice and Fire more than the fictional history of Fire & Blood. The stories are vividly presented, and our objective is to create faithful adaptations of these tales for television.

What are the other Game of Thrones prequels?
The only available Game of Thrones prequel to watch at the moment is House of the Dragon – with its second season released last year.
Apart from The Hedge Knight, HBO aims to develop a series centered around the Aegon Conquest, which transpired 300 years prior to Game of Thrones. This series will explore Aegon Targaryen’s arrival in Westeros alongside his sister wives Rhaenys and Visenya and their dragons.
Additionally, a new prequel following Lord Corlys Velaryon from House of the Dragon, titled Nine Voyages, will chart his dangerous voyages to the world’s more enigmatic destinations.
A prequel named 10,000 Ships will showcase the exploits of Princess Nymeria, who lived a millennium before Game of Thrones’ timeline. After her kingdom, Rhoyne, was conquered by Valyria, she assembled a vast fleet and journeyed to Dorne, marrying a lord from House Martell.
Moreover, HBO plans an animated series set in Yi Ti, a lush region in Essos that, according to George R.R. Martin, reflects the essence of medieval China.
