LSU Tigers coach Kim Mulkey will have to make adjustments to her roster after Aalyah Del Rosario decided to transfer from the school. Del Rosario recently entered the transfer portal and has now officially committed to playing college basketball for Vanderbilt next season, ending her two-year stint at LSU.
Standing tall at 6-foot-6, Del Rosario played 67 games during her time at LSU, with only one start in two years. Despite her limited playing time, she was named on the 2024 SEC All-Freshman Team for her contributions. In her first season, she averaged 4.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 0.2 assists per game, but her stats dropped in the recent season to 2.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.1 assists per game.
Joining Vanderbilt presents Del Rosario with a fresh opportunity to showcase her talents and potentially secure a more significant role on the team. With her size and skill set, she could be a valuable asset for the Commodores on both ends of the court. Additionally, Del Rosario brings international experience to Vanderbilt, having won gold with the USA team at the 2022 FIFA U18 Americas tournament.
Vanderbilt, who finished ninth in the Southeastern Conference with a 22-11 overall record, will be looking to improve on their performance from the previous season. Despite reaching the final of the SEC Tournament and making it to the NCAA tournament, the Commodores fell short of advancing past the first round.
Del Rosario’s departure from LSU is part of a trend, as she joins Sa’Mayah Smith and Last-Tear Poa in leaving the Tigers for other teams. Smith and Poa recently signed with the Arizona State Sun Devils women’s basketball team.
In conclusion, Del Rosario’s move to Vanderbilt signifies a new chapter in her college basketball career, where she hopes to make a more significant impact on the court. With her skills and experience, she has the potential to help Vanderbilt elevate their performance in the upcoming season.
