The creators of the upcoming ‘Superman’ film seem hell-bent on transforming it into a modern-day version of Snow White. Instead of celebrating the quintessentially American superhero, they’ve opted for a narrative infused with a woke, pro-immigrant ethos. When confronted about this direction, they seem to double down rather than engage in dialogue.
Director James Gunn recently elaborated on this theme during an interview with IMDB, stating:
James Gunn Declares ‘Superman’ a Tale of ‘Immigration’ and Human Kindness: ‘Yes, It’s Political’
In his recent profile with The Times of London, Gunn unpacked the core themes of his eagerly awaited rendition of “Superman.” He articulated that the film encapsulates “the story of America,” fundamentally portraying a man in search of a better life, far removed from his origins.
“Essentially, ‘Superman’ tells the story of America,” Gunn remarked. “An immigrant who came from elsewhere and contributed to this country. For me, it ultimately asserts that basic human kindness is a value we have lost.”
Sean Gunn, the director’s brother and an actor in the film, echoed these sentiments at a Hollywood premiere. He asserted that rejecting this perspective equates to rejecting American values. Watch his remarks:

However, early reviews, as reported by Breitbart News, suggest a less than favorable reception:
Critics Label James Gunn’s ‘Woke Superman’ as ‘Terrible’ and ‘Superficial’
Film producers requested that reviewers hold their critiques until Tuesday, but some outlets chose to defy this request and published their thoughts early, with results that do not bode well for the film’s future.
For instance, The Daily Beast released a scathing review titled, The Terrible New ‘Superman’ Movie Is the Final Nail in the Grave for the Superhero Genre, which was later retracted. The review, penned by Nick Schager, described the film as “superficial,” “overstuffed,” and even “silly.”
Regardless, the filmmakers’ message is resonating clearly with audiences.
James Gunn’s assertion that illegal immigrants take precedence over my ticket purchase was quite enlightening. Saved me a hundred bucks I can allocate elsewhere. Thank you. https://t.co/a4YCKNaX2H

Will the filmmakers be surprised if the film flops? They certainly shouldn’t be.
