The Adriatic Film and TV Awards, which celebrates outstanding achievements in film and television from the former Yugoslavia, was officially announced at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. This inaugural event is scheduled to take place from October 24 to 26 in Porto Montenegro, Tivat, Montenegro, with Porto Montenegro serving as the main partner.
The winners of the awards will be chosen by the newly established Adriatic Film and TV Academy, which is part of the Network of Festivals in the Adriatic Region. This network was established by prominent festivals such as the Sarajevo Film Festival, the Zagreb Film Festival, and the Auteur Film Festival in Belgrade.
The Adriatic Film and TV Awards will build upon the success of the Heart of Sarajevo Awards for TV Series, which will no longer be held. The new concept will not only encompass television achievements but also recognize outstanding accomplishments in the film industry.
The academy is set to bring together over 500 industry professionals from the region, many of whom have previously served as jury members for the Heart of Sarajevo Awards for TV Series. The voting process for the awards will commence in June 2025, with the nominations being revealed during the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival scheduled for August 15 to 22.
The awards ceremony promises to be a gathering of top regional talents, providing a platform for networking, knowledge-sharing, and the global promotion of regional cinema and television. Porto Montenegro, known for its marina and residential village, is home to Porto Montenegro Studios, a state-of-the-art complex equipped with recording and filming facilities developed in collaboration with the Puccini Floating Academy.
This exciting new initiative in the world of film and television promises to shine a spotlight on the diverse and talented individuals working in the industry in the Adriatic region. Stay tuned for more updates on the Adriatic Film and TV Awards and the exceptional work being honored.
