Two adults who were arrested on minor charges during a “teen takeover” event in Streeterville last month have failed to appear for their court dates, leading to warrants being issued for their arrests. Alderman Brian Hopkins (2nd) revealed this information on Monday evening, emphasizing the importance of holding offenders accountable for their actions.

The chaotic scene unfolded near Columbus and Illinois on the evening of March 28, with crowds filling the streets. Tragically, a 15-year-old boy was shot in front of the NBC tower, while an 18-year-old was stabbed during a fight in the Loop that was related to the takeover.

Among those arrested during the escalating situation were 18-year-old Evan Jackson and 20-year-old Trinity Barrett. Both individuals were charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct by the Chicago Police Department and were taken into custody about a block apart around 9:40 p.m.

Barrett was released from the Near North (18th) District station with a court date scheduled for April 24. However, she failed to appear as required. Jackson, who was also released from the station, was given a court date for April 25 but likewise did not show up. Consequently, Judge Donald Panarese, Jr. issued warrants for their arrests due to their failure to appear in court.

In response to these developments, Alderman Hopkins expressed gratitude for the 18th District Court Advocates who diligently attend court sessions and follow up on cases like these. He acknowledged the importance of their work in combating crime and ensuring that offenders are held accountable for their reckless behavior. Additionally, a member of his public safety liaison staff attended court in person on behalf of the 2nd Ward.
