Adult content creator Alix Lynx has responded to Euphoria actress Chloe Cherry following her remarks about OnlyFans not being empowering.
In a statement to Us Weekly on Thursday, April 30, Lynx expressed, “Through my content, I am able to be an artist. I have a vision that I bring to life, and people are willing to pay me for it. I am compensated for being myself and being creative, which I find incredibly empowering.”
Lynx’s remarks came after Cherry, known for her role as Faye on the popular HBO series, discussed changes in societal norms regarding the stigma of OnlyFans.
Cherry shared with Refinery 29 on Thursday, April 23, “I do believe norms are changing. OnlyFans and sex work have become more accepted, but that’s primarily due to capitalism and a declining economy. It’s not about empowerment or power. It’s simply a reflection of living under capitalism in a struggling economy, which is why people are turning to it.”
In her statement, Lynx acknowledged that a career in adult content creation is not suited for everyone.
“You need to genuinely want to do it, finding it enjoyable, exciting, and empowering,” she explained. “For those it resonates with, it offers a level of freedom and control that many other careers lack.”
Lynx, who has been in the industry for over a decade, noted that OnlyFans has played a significant role in building her confidence.
“When I left everything behind to pursue webcaming, I experienced a profound sense of inner peace for the first time in my life,” she stated. “I was doing exactly what I wanted, living life on my terms, which instilled deep trust and confidence in myself.”
Lynx describes her career as transformative.
“OnlyFans has been particularly life-changing. I’ve had similar discussions with other women in the industry, and we all feel it,” she noted. “The realization that I can work from home, avoid the office, engage with people, create content, and be well-compensated was astounding.”
