A group of masked thieves are currently being sought after in Washington, DC, following a brazen robbery at a luxury athletic apparel store where they managed to make off with approximately $20,000 worth of merchandise. The incident took place late last month at an Alo store located in DC’s Georgetown neighborhood, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department.
Surveillance footage captured the six suspects entering the store around 7:30 p.m. on June 30. The video shows them casually walking past what seems to be a security guard stationed at the entrance before swiftly grabbing clothing items from racks and display counters. With armfuls of stolen goods, the suspects quickly exited the store and fled in a silver or gray Ford Edge with obscured license plates. The vehicle was last seen speeding away on Wisconsin Ave NW.
Authorities have released the surveillance video in hopes of identifying and apprehending the suspects responsible for the theft. According to a police report obtained by Fox News Digital, the store has estimated the value of the stolen merchandise to be around $20,000. Despite the incident, Alo has not yet provided a response to inquiries made by Fox News Digital.
Eyewitnesses who spoke to FOX5 DC mentioned that there was a noticeable absence of police presence at the high-end store during the time of the robbery. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with law enforcement actively seeking any information that may lead to the capture of the perpetrators.
The theft at the Alo store in Georgetown serves as a reminder of the ongoing threats faced by retail establishments, highlighting the importance of robust security measures to safeguard against such criminal activities. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in bringing the culprits to justice.
