Amazon Launches Redesigned Fire TV Mobile App
The redesigned Fire TV mobile app by Amazon is now being rolled out to customers, offering a new and improved experience for users. Previously used mainly as a backup remote, the updated app allows users to browse and discover content directly from their phone, manage their watchlist on the go, and even play titles on their TV from the mobile app.
According to an email sent by Amazon to JS, the updated app transforms smartphones into a second screen for finding what to watch next. Users can easily add a friend’s show recommendation to their watchlist, even when they are away from home. This seamless integration between mobile and TV aims to create a more flexible and convenient viewing experience for Fire TV customers, enabling them to quickly find what they want to watch.
The app is currently being rolled out in various countries including the U.S., Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and the U.K.
Amazon highlighted that the refreshed look of the app aligns with the new Fire TV user interface launched last month. The redesigned interface places more emphasis on content and simplifies navigation. Features such as rounded corners, varied gradients, consistent typography, and increased spacing between content have been introduced, providing more room for pinned apps.
The top navigation bar has been streamlined into categories marked with clear icons for Movies, TV, Live TV, Sports, and News. The search button is now more accessible to the left of the Home tab.
Within these tabs, users will find the content they are currently watching alongside recommendations from their subscribed services, organized in rows labeled “For You.” The tabs also showcase free movies, top movies and shows, as well as other paid content that users might enjoy.
These updates to the app and user interface are a response to the increasing amount of streaming content available, which has made it challenging for users to keep track of what’s on each service. Platforms like Fire TV are evolving into more than just launching apps, serving as discovery hubs for users to find content easily.
