Amid Disney Blackout, DirecTV Offers Credit Toward Sling or Fubo

Carriage fights in the television industry have led to some unexpected alliances between major players. DirecTV and Disney have found themselves at odds over a new deal for ESPN, ABC, and other networks, resulting in a standoff that has left DirecTV customers without access to popular channels.

In response to the failed negotiations, DirecTV has taken a bold step by offering its customers a $30 credit towards two competing streaming TV services – Sling and Fubo. These services, offered by longtime satellite rival Dish Network and Fubo respectively, provide an alternative for viewers who are missing out on Disney-owned channels.

The ongoing dispute between DirecTV and Disney shows no signs of resolution, as evidenced by DirecTV’s decision to incentivize customers to explore other options. The $30 credit can be redeemed by signing up for either Fubo’s Pro or Elite with Sports Plus plans, or by subscribing to Sling’s Orange service. These offers aim to provide DirecTV customers with access to key channels such as ESPN, ESPN2, Disney Channel, and more.

In a blog post announcing the promotions, DirecTV expressed frustration with Disney’s tactics and emphasized the importance of staying connected to sports and entertainment content. Customers can find more information on how to redeem the credit on tvpromise.com, with the credit applying to active accounts within two months.

Meanwhile, Disney-owned Hulu has also entered the fray by offering a $30 credit to new subscribers of its Hulu + Live TV plan. This plan includes over 95 TV channels, including ESPN, as well as access to Hulu’s extensive on-demand streaming library.

As the carriage fight continues, Disney has been actively promoting alternative providers to DirecTV customers, highlighting the availability of ABC, ESPN, and other networks on platforms such as Fubo and Sling. This competition for viewership underscores the changing landscape of the television industry and the shifting alliances between major media companies.

Overall, the ongoing dispute between DirecTV and Disney has created a complex web of alliances and promotions in the streaming TV market. Customers are encouraged to explore their options and take advantage of the credits and offers available to ensure they have access to their favorite channels and programming.
