Anderson Cooper Leaves CBS: The Real Reason Behind His Departure
Anderson Cooper recently announced his departure from CBS, citing personal reasons for his decision. In a statement, Cooper explained, “For nearly twenty years, I’ve been able to balance my jobs at CNN and CBS. But I have little kids now, and I want to spend as much time with them as possible while they still want to spend time with me.”
CBS also released a statement expressing gratitude towards Cooper for his dedication to the broadcast and understanding the importance of family time. They mentioned that 60 Minutes will be ready for Cooper if he ever decides to return.
However, according to Hollywood insider Rob Shuter, there may be more to Cooper’s departure than meets the eye. Shuter revealed on Substack that Bari Weiss, who took on a more hands-on role at CBS in October, has created a challenging work environment for Cooper.
“Bari made it clear she wanted a different tone,” an insider shared with Shuter. “Every script was scrutinized. Every edit questioned. It stopped feeling like trust and started feeling like a test.”
Another source bluntly stated, “(Anderson) didn’t quit. He was pushed. When management makes it that uncomfortable, walking away is the only option left.”
