Andrew and Tristan Tate, known as influencers within the manosphere, were taken into custody by federal officers in Miami on Saturday afternoon, as reported by AP. The specific charges against the brothers have not yet been disclosed.
This incident is not the first arrest for the Tate brothers. In 2022, they were detained in Romania by anti-terrorism authorities on allegations of human trafficking and rape. By 2023, these charges were formally brought against them by the Romanian government, as noted by the BBC.
Andrew Tate has consistently maintained his innocence. Following his release from house arrest in 2023, he stated to the media, “We’ve been completely innocent since the beginning of this, and I have to give absolute faith to the Romanian judicial system for finally making the right decision and letting us free.”
As reported by Reuters, a Romanian court has recently lifted all preventative judicial controls on the Tates while further investigations into their charges continue.
In May 2025, the BBC reported that British prosecutors had authorized 21 charges against Andrew and Tristan Tate, including rape, actual bodily harm, and human trafficking. Andrew Tate is facing 10 charges related to three alleged victims, while Tristan Tate is facing 11 charges concerning one alleged victim.
Andrew Tate first gained public attention in 2016 as a participant on the U.K.’s “Big Brother.” He was removed from the show after a video appeared to show him hitting a woman with a belt, though both he and the woman later asserted that the actions were consensual. Since then, he has gained notoriety as a controversial figure and influencer known for promoting hyper-masculine views.
