The Google Pixel devices are currently receiving the January Android 16 update, which primarily focuses on security patches and bug fixes rather than introducing new features. This update addresses various issues such as GPU problems, battery drain issues, touchscreen unresponsiveness, and noisy ringback tones during Webex calls across Pixel 7a through Pixel 10 Pro Fold models.

While the January update brings essential stability improvements, users should not expect any major new features until the anticipated March Pixel Drop. Google seems to have reverted to its original quarterly Pixel Drop schedule, where major feature additions are rolled out every three months.

The January 2026 update includes a fix for noisy ringback tones during Webex calls and addresses battery draining issues in specific conditions. Additionally, there are fixes for three GPU problems, including an AOD flickering issue and issues related to editing HDR photos in the Adobe Lightroom app.

If you have experienced touchscreen issues on your Pixel device or faced problems with Live Universe wallpapers causing the Wallpaper and style app to become unusable, the January patch should resolve these issues.

Google has started rolling out the January update to all eligible Pixel devices running on Android 16, starting from the Google Pixel 7a to the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. If you have not received the update notification yet, you can manually check for updates by going to Settings > System > Software updates > System update and tapping on Check for update.

It is worth noting that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series (except for the Pixel 7a) have been excluded from the list of devices receiving the update, for reasons unknown. After the significant update in December, the next major Pixel Drop is expected to arrive in March.

Stay tuned for more updates and improvements to your Pixel device as Google continues to enhance the user experience through regular updates and feature additions.
