Google has announced a new update specifically catered to Android 15 users who enjoy sharing content on their phones. The update introduces a range of new features aimed at enhancing accessibility, simplifying sharing, and making communication more enjoyable.
One of the standout features is ‘Expressive Captions,’ which goes beyond just words to capture the tone and emotion behind them. Users can expect captions that indicate emotions like ‘whispering’ during a quiet moment, ‘cheers and applause’ after a celebration, or even highlight a pause after a joke. These expressive captions will be available across various apps including streaming platforms, social media, and video messaging.
In addition, the ‘Emoji Kitchen’ in Gboard has been expanded to allow users to create customised stickers by combining emojis. This feature is reminiscent of the latest iOS 18 ‘Genmoji’ feature. Furthermore, Gboard now includes ‘Clearflow,’ a glide typing keyboard designed to improve typing speed and accuracy.
Another noteworthy addition is ‘QR codes in Quick Share,’ which simplifies file sharing by allowing users to generate QR codes for files. This eliminates the need to verify devices or share contacts, as others can simply scan the QR code to securely access the file.
For users with blindness or low vision, the ‘Lookout’ feature now offers enhanced image descriptions using Gemini 1.5 Pro. Users can listen to detailed captions of photos and ask follow-up questions to gain a better understanding of the images. Additionally, Google Drive now automatically enhances scanned documents by adjusting contrast, white balance, and reducing shadows and blur.
The AI assistant, Gemini, has also received updates, allowing users to connect with Spotify to play music, discover playlists, control device settings, send messages, and make calls. Future updates will enable Gemini to control smart home devices and provide detailed place information on Google Maps.
For users of the latest Google Pixel phones, there are 20 additional features to look forward to. These updates aim to enhance the overall user experience and make sharing, communication, and accessibility more convenient and enjoyable.
