Andy Cohen, often referred to as the King of Bravo, has spoken about the emotional challenges faced during the intense Summer House reunion, which was marked by the ongoing romance drama between Amanda Batula and West Wilson.
“The Summer House reunion ranks among the top 10 most tense we’ve had,” Cohen, 58, revealed at the Newport Beach TV Fest Present’s Variety’s Creative Impact in TV Award event on Friday, June 5. “Next week’s episode will really show you why,” he added.
As the host of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, he explained, “This group is genuine, and the emotional fallout they experienced was very real. They were rocked, devastated, and it was deeply emotional.”
Cohen admitted that he “left” the reunion feeling “truly spent,” despite not being as involved as the show’s cast.
“I was just directing the conversation,” Cohen clarified.
Reports emerged in March that Amanda and West’s relationship had evolved from platonic to romantic following Amanda’s separation from her estranged husband Kyle Cooke and West’s past relationship with Amanda’s former friend, Ciara Miller.

“This isn’t a sex scandal. It was just hanging out,” West mentioned to Cohen in the official teaser for the three-part reunion. This has provided fans a detailed view of the aftermath of Amanda and West’s romance.
During the reunion, Ciara confronted Amanda, saying, “Over the past six years, I have been your champion. I couldn’t fathom that I would be sitting here upset because you’re with my ex.”
Despite the drama surrounding the cast, an insider told Us that Amanda and West’s relationship is continuing to grow. “West and Amanda are still dating,” the source stated in May, noting that “the cast doesn’t think they’ll last.”
The insider further revealed, “West took Amanda to meet his parents in May, indicating they are getting serious.”
On Friday, Cohen shared with Us that the timeline of Amanda and West’s relationship became less significant as the reunion discussions focused more on the group’s feelings and the sense of betrayal. “The main story was about the betrayal, the emotions, and its impact on the group,” he said.
He added that the emotional reactions stood out, especially when Jesse Solomon was visibly upset during the last 25 minutes of the reunion. “He was genuinely shaken, and that emotion was what really struck me,” Cohen noted.
Despite the intense atmosphere, Cohen told Us he wasn’t nervous before filming. “I felt the weight of it, but I was energized and not nervous,” he said. “I do sometimes get nervous when talking to cast members, like Ciara, West, and Amanda, because it’s intense.”
Cohen concluded, “Being on a reunion is intense with a regular season, and this was even more elevated.”
