Apple’s Siri Revamp Rumored to Turn into Chatbot
According to a recent report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is set to revamp its long-awaited Siri feature to transform it into a chatbot more similar to ChatGPT. The revamped Siri, internally known as “Campos,” is expected to be integrated into iOS 27 and could be the highlight of Apple’s WWDC presentation in June.
Initially, Apple’s senior vice president Craig Federighi expressed his reluctance to turn Siri into a chatbot, preferring to have Apple’s AI capabilities seamlessly integrated into the user experience. However, with the increasing popularity and success of AI chatbots from other companies, it seems Apple has had a change of heart.
One of the driving factors behind Apple’s decision could be the potential threat posed by OpenAI, led by former Apple design head Jony Ive, venturing into the hardware space. With Apple lagging behind in the AI race, the company has faced delays in rolling out a more personalized Siri and has been exploring partnerships with other AI companies.
After considering various options, Apple recently announced a partnership with Google’s Gemini for its AI capabilities. This move signifies Apple’s commitment to enhancing its AI offerings and staying competitive in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
