Apple TV has recently announced the acquisition of the dramedy series “Beat the Reaper,” which is based on the novel by Josh Bazell. The show will star Will Poulter, known for his work in “Black Mirror” and “The Bear,” who is also serving as an executive producer. The show will be helmed by showrunner and executive producer Sam Catlin, known for his work on “Preacher” and “Breaking Bad.” Apple Studios and New Regency are co-studios behind the production of the show.

In “Beat the Reaper,” Poulter will portray the character of Dr. Peter Brown, an intern at Boston’s worst hospital with a talent for medicine and a troubled past. When a patient recognizes him from his dangerous history, Brown must navigate through a perilous journey to evade the government, mob hitmen, and other adversaries within eight hours.

Catlin will be executive producing the show as part of his overall deal with Apple TV. Other executive producers include Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Natalie Lehmann from New Regency.

Poulter’s upcoming projects include the horror film “Rapture,” the Netflix drama “Saturday Return,” and the sci-fi comedy “I Love Boosters.” He has also appeared in films such as “Warfare,” “On Swift Horses,” “Detroit,” and “Midsommar.” Poulter has received Emmy nominations for his roles in “The Bear” and “Dopesick.”

The show promises to be a thrilling and suspenseful ride, with Poulter’s portrayal of Dr. Peter Brown set to captivate audiences. Stay tuned for more updates on the release date and additional cast announcements for “Beat the Reaper” on Apple TV.
