ArdAzAei founder Bahareh Ardakani has been making waves in the world of ready-to-wear fashion for several seasons now. This Paris Fashion Week, she took a more official step by staging a presentation in her couture atelier on the Rue Saint-Florentin.
During a walkthrough of her collection, Ardakani explained that her focus is on creating versatile pieces that can be layered and styled in different ways, reflecting the movement in couture. Building on the success of her previous couture outing, The Folded Sea, Ardakani showcased a stunning lineup of knitwear with intricately engineered gills inspired by sea anemones. These pieces could be manipulated to spiral around the body, showcasing her innovative approach to knitwear design.
Ardakani’s background in math and engineering is evident in her sculpted shapes and geometric ribbing, created using organic cashmere and virgin wool. Nearly half of the collection is GOTS-certified, underscoring her commitment to sustainability. The color palette for this PFW debut featured luxurious tones of beige, ochre, and black, with a pop of blue jacquard for a tank and skirt set.
Known for her impeccable tailoring, Ardakani showcased a range of trousers, coats, and suiting that mirrored the intricate geometry of her couture constructions. Eveningwear was equally striking, with a short bustier dress in orange taffeta that elegantly wrapped around the body. Statement coats, including one crafted from vegetable-tanned leather, demonstrated Ardakani’s attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Completing the look were bevel-toed stilettos that reflected the brand’s signature style. With her formal language now established, it will be exciting to see how Ardakani continues to evolve and push the boundaries of her design aesthetic.
For fashion-forward individuals looking for distinctive, chic, and travel-friendly pieces, ArdAzAei’s latest collection offers a fresh perspective on modern ready-to-wear. Stay tuned to see what this talented designer has in store for future seasons.
