Authorities have charged a man in connection with a severe assault that left a person critically injured in Canterbury on Thursday night.
Police responded to a call at a residence on Racecourse Rd in Amberley, Hurunui, around 10:25pm, following a report of a serious assault.
According to police statements yesterday morning, “The victim was transported to hospital with critical injuries and is currently undergoing surgery.”
In a recent update, Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Luke Vaughan confirmed that a man has been charged in relation to the incident.
The 24-year-old is scheduled to appear in Christchurch District Court on March 26, facing charges of wounding with intent.
