Ascend Literary Management has officially signed Robb Cullen as a client, Variety has exclusively reported. Cullen remains under the representation of IAG and is also represented by Jared Levine, Sabrina Padwa, and Jonathan Leiter of Yorn Levine.

Recently, Cullen was the creator of the series “Average Joe,” which first premiered on BET+ in 2023. The show’s second season is set to launch on Paramount+ on August 19. Deon Cole stars as Joe Washington, a plumber who discovers his late father had stolen millions from the Russian mafia. Cullen also serves as an executive producer for the series.

Beyond “Average Joe,” Cullen co-created the FX series “Lucky,” featuring John Corbett. Together with his brother Mark, Cullen earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for their work on the pilot episode, which was directed by the Russo brothers, known for their work with Marvel.

Cullen’s television credits also include the Spike TV animated series “Gary the Rat,” as well as “Heis,” “Mr. Robinson,” and “Las Vegas” for NBC. His film writing includes “Once Upon a Time in Venice” and “Cop Out,” both starring Bruce Willis. Currently, Cullen is developing new projects for McG and Wonderland, including an untitled action drama.

Ascend Literary Management was established earlier this year by Ian Greenstein. Before founding Ascend, Greenstein was with Innovative Artists Entertainment and had spent over ten years at Gersh, where he managed the TV department. His career also includes over a decade at Paradigm following its merger with Genesis, a boutique literary firm Greenstein co-launched in 2000.
