The streets of lower Manhattan were flooded with thousands of angry New Yorkers on Tuesday as they gathered outside Foley Square to protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportations. The demonstration, which saw at least 15 people arrested, was a powerful display of resistance against the ongoing deportations in the city and across the country.

Protesters carried signs with messages like “Abolish ICE” and “ICE out of New York!” as they marched through the streets, chanting slogans such as “Brick by brick, wall by wall, this racist system has got to fall!” The atmosphere was charged with emotion as the crowd voiced their opposition to ICE’s actions and called for change.

The NYPD moved in to arrest demonstrators near Broadway and Duane Street for obstructing traffic and refusing to disperse. Despite the arrests, the protest continued with notable speakers like Brooklyn Councilwoman Shahana Hanif and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams addressing the crowd.

The images from the protest captured the passion and energy of the participants, highlighting the urgency and importance of the cause. The call to abolish ICE resonated strongly with those in attendance, who demanded an end to the agency’s deportations and the injustices they represent.

Overall, the protest in lower Manhattan was a powerful demonstration of solidarity and resistance against ICE’s actions. It served as a reminder of the importance of standing up for justice and fighting against oppressive systems. The voices of the protesters echoed through the streets, calling for change and demanding a better future for all.
