Investigators working on the case of missing mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie are collaborating with Walmart management to follow leads related to a specific backpack worn by the suspect, as revealed by the Pima County Sheriff in Arizona.
Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old woman, was last seen at her home in Arizona on January 31, with her blood discovered on the front porch. The case involved ransom notes being sent to the media, with deadlines passing without payment.
The FBI released surveillance footage showing a masked individual with a handgun holster at Guthrie’s residence in Tucson on the night she disappeared. Additionally, a porch camera recorded a person in ski mask, pants, jacket, and gloves carrying a backpack.
Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that the “Ozark Trail Hiker Pack” backpack is a crucial piece of evidence linked to the case, exclusively available at Walmart. Collaboration with Walmart is ongoing to gather more information.
The suspect’s attire, possibly purchased from Walmart, remains under investigation, with the possibility of other sources. The FBI is conducting DNA testing on a glove found near Guthrie’s home, while the search for her mother continues into the third week with no identified suspect.
Descriptions of the suspect provided by the FBI indicate a man of medium build, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall. Guthrie’s family members are not considered suspects, as confirmed by Nanos.
Concerns have been raised about Nancy Guthrie’s health due to her reliance on daily medication, pacemaker, and history of heart issues. Law enforcement agencies are actively gathering evidence as the investigation unfolds.
