Two Men Arrested for Robbing UPS Driver in Chicago
In a shocking turn of events, two men have been arrested and jailed pending trial after allegedly robbing a UPS driver in Chicago. The incident took place in the 800 block of North Spaulding on February 17.
The suspects, identified as Trevon Walker, 23, and Dequan Kennedy, 24, confronted the UPS driver inside his truck, demanding iPhone packages. Kennedy reportedly threatened the driver, ordering him to hand over any packages containing iPhones. The duo managed to flee the scene with approximately 30 packages in tow.
Police investigations revealed that the robbers had made their escape in a stolen blue car, which was also linked to a shooting in another location on the same day. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the shooting, but a residence suffered significant damage due to the gunfire.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Chicago Police Department, Illinois State Police, and several suburban police departments, initiated a pursuit of the suspects’ vehicle. The chase culminated in a dramatic conclusion when a state trooper executed a “PIT maneuver,” immobilizing the car.
Both Walker and Kennedy were apprehended at the scene, with Walker being tased by a Chicago Heights police officer during the arrest. Stolen packages were recovered from the crashed car, and Kennedy was found to be in possession of an unloaded AK-47 and a loaded handgun with an extended magazine. Walker, who was already on probation for a prior felony gun offense, was found with $1,658 in cash.
Both men have been charged with robbery, with Kennedy facing additional counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.
