Fox’s revival of the iconic TV series “Baywatch” is set to feature original cast member David Chokachi, according to a report by Variety. Chokachi will be reprising his role as Cody Madison in the upcoming Fox version, alongside recently announced lead Stephen Amell, who will play the role of Hobie Buchanon, the son of the legendary lifeguard Mitch Buchanon from the original show.
In the new series, Cody now operates “The Shoreline,” the unofficially official Baywatch bar-and-grill, where he still occasionally dons the red trunks to save lives. Described as a mentor and friend to his fellow lifeguards, Cody provides a second home for them and always offers free wings after a successful rescue.
David Chokachi originally appeared in “Baywatch” from the sixth season through the ninth season. He has also starred in other popular shows like “Witchblade” and “Beyond the Break,” as well as various films including “Atlantic Rim,” “Psycho Beach Party,” and “Soul Surfer.”
The reboot of “Baywatch” was greenlit by Fox for the 2026-2027 broadcast season with a 12-episode order. An open casting call for the show is scheduled for February 18, with production slated to begin in Los Angeles this spring.
The show is being helmed by showrunner Matt Nix, along with executive producers McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz. McG will also direct the series premiere episode. “Baywatch” is a co-production between Fox Entertainment and Fremantle.
During its original run, “Baywatch” became a global phenomenon, airing in over 200 countries and boasting a star-studded ensemble cast including David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Jason Momoa, Yasmine Bleeth, and Carmen Electra. The show’s popularity led to a short-lived spinoff, “Baywatch Nights,” and a feature film reboot in 2017 starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron.
With the return of David Chokachi as Cody Madison, fans can expect a mix of nostalgia and fresh new storylines in the highly anticipated Fox revival of “Baywatch.” Stay tuned for more updates as production on the series gets underway.
