Ben Shelton’s impressive victory over Andrey Rublev in the third round of the 2025 Paris Masters on Thursday, October 30 not only secured his spot in the prestigious ATP Finals in Turin but also marked a significant milestone in his career. This will be the first time the American tennis player will compete in the ATP Finals, joining the elite group of top players in the world.

Shelton’s girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, who is a star soccer player for the NWSL’s Washington Spirit, showed her support for him despite nursing a leg injury. She took to social media to share her excitement for Shelton’s achievement, re-sharing a post by @tennistv on her Instagram story that celebrated his qualification for the ATP Finals.

The tennis star’s journey to the ATP Finals has been nothing short of remarkable, with standout performances throughout the season. From reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open to clinching his first Masters 1000 title at the Canadian Open and breaking into the Top 10 rankings, Shelton has truly made a mark in the tennis world. Currently ranked at a career-high of World No. 6, Shelton’s determination and hard work have paid off.

Despite her own busy schedule and recovering from a recent injury, Rodman has been a constant source of support for Shelton, attending his matches whenever possible and sharing updates of his progress on social media. Her presence at key moments in Shelton’s career, including at Wimbledon and the US Open, highlights the strength of their relationship and mutual support for each other’s careers.

Shelton’s qualification for the ATP Finals makes him the second American player to secure a spot in the prestigious event, following in the footsteps of Taylor Fritz. This marks the first time since 2006 that two American men singles competitors will be vying for the ATP Finals trophy, a testament to the talent and skill of the new generation of American tennis players.

In a post-match interview after his victory over Rublev, Shelton expressed his determination to “control his destiny” and secure his place in the ATP Finals. With only two spots remaining in the field, Shelton will face off against Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters, eager to continue his impressive run and make a mark on the international stage.

As Shelton prepares to compete against the best players in the world at the ATP Finals, he carries with him the unwavering support of his girlfriend Trinity Rodman and a strong sense of determination to succeed. With his career on an upward trajectory and his eyes set on the ultimate prize, Shelton is ready to make his mark on the world stage and solidify his place among the tennis greats.
