The Steve Miller Band Cancels Tour Amid Climate Concerns

The iconic classic rock ensemble, the Steve Miller Band, has officially scrapped all remaining engagements of their current tour, citing the ‘extreme’ weather conditions linked to climate change as the reason behind their decision.

Ah, the days of rock and roll seem to be shifting under the weight of climate-induced chaos.

The band took to Twitter/X to share their announcement.

Variety reports:

Steve Miller Band Cancels All Tour Dates Due to Recent Weather Disasters

The relentless weather calamities of recent years have not only claimed lives but also inflicted billions of dollars in damages, reshaping climates and economies across the globe. However, the Steve Miller Band’s 2025 North American tour stands out as perhaps the first cancellation attributed to the ongoing trend of climate change-related weather disasters, rather than a single catastrophic event.

All 31 scheduled performances of their American tour have been canceled, initially set to kick off on August 15 in Bethel, NY, and wrap up in Anaheim, California, on November 8.

The announcement was delivered in the straightforward style that fans have come to expect from the 81-year-old legendary singer, songwriter, and guitarist, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee whose career has spanned from the mid-1960s and includes timeless hits such as “The Joker,” “Fly Like an Eagle,” and “Take the Money and Run.”

Unsurprisingly, public reaction has been less than favorable.

Wow…so The Steve Miller Band is canceling a full tour due to weather? Flooding, tornadoes, forest fires to protect fans.

Ummmm…okay.

Just say ticket sales are down. https://t.co/2L38jAPbfX

I’ve loved #SteveMiller for more than 50 years. But this is the dumbest tour cancellation ever. https://t.co/HmwjVFLYyj

Ticket sales must’ve really sucked. https://t.co/AFQ8MqYMZT

Translation: Ticket sales were bad and this was the only way to get publicity from canceling the tour. https://t.co/4qTg6DteHg

It might just be time for the band to consider retirement.
