Audio From Special Counsel Report

Audio from former President Joe Biden‘s interview in a special counsel report about his memory struggles has been released, shedding light on Biden’s memory lapses.
Axios has unveiled a portion of Biden’s interview with former special counsel Robert Hur. The clip is from an investigation into Biden’s handling of classified documents, where Hur described Biden as a “well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.”
Biden, during his presidency, struggled to recall dates and significant events, including the year his son Beau passed away.
In the audio, Biden also had difficulty remembering when he left office as vice president and when Donald Trump was elected. The recording dates back to October 2023, during Biden’s third year in office.
The transcript of the interview was previously available, but this is the first time the public is hearing Biden’s actual words.
Following a confrontation with reporters in February 2024 over Hur’s comments on his memory, Biden has now allowed the audio to be released.
