Edward Coristine, also known as “Big Balls” online, has resigned from his position in the U.S. government.
An official from the White House confirmed to WIRED that the 19-year-old has stepped down from his role in the Department of Government Efficiency, a department previously overseen by Elon Musk.
Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual, left his position last month and criticized President Donald Trump’s proposed spending bill.
Coristine’s appointment to the Department of Government Efficiency earlier this year, along with other Gen Zers, raised concerns due to his young age, lack of experience, and his use of the “Big Balls” nickname.
Prior to his role at the Department of Government Efficiency, Coristine interned at Neuralink, a brain-computer interface startup founded by Musk.
Coristine’s use of the “Big Balls” moniker on social media platforms sparked attention, with him explaining in a Fox News interview that he wanted to break away from the seriousness commonly found on LinkedIn.
Coristine has not publicly commented on his resignation.
