Two individuals have been apprehended on methamphetamine-related charges following searches conducted in Christchurch and Marlborough.

According to Detective Sergeant Dean Schroder from the Tasman Organised Crime Unit, search warrants were executed at residences in Riverlands near Blenheim and Belfast in Christchurch, with the assistance of the Armed Offenders Squad.

During the searches, authorities discovered packaged methamphetamine, cash, and paraphernalia used for consuming the illicit substance.

Charges of conspiracy to supply and supplying methamphetamine have been brought against two males, aged 34 and 57.

The 34-year-old, who was already on bail for previous methamphetamine offenses, now faces additional charges, including possession of the drug for distribution, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of cannabis, and possession of equipment for consuming methamphetamine and cannabis.

The 57-year-old is scheduled to appear in the Christchurch District Court today, while the 34-year-old is being held in custody for an appearance in the Blenheim District Court tomorrow.

Det Sgt Schroder commended the Marlborough and Canterbury staff for their dedication and commitment to bringing these individuals to justice, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to combat drug supply and distribution in the South Island.

Individuals with information regarding drug manufacturing and distribution in Marlborough and Canterbury are encouraged to contact the police. In case of immediate incidents, dial 111, or call 105 for past occurrences. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers at 0800 555 111.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges, and investigations are still ongoing in connection with the case.
