Jason Hiro Kim has decided to embark on a solo journey.
The former manager and producer has introduced his new indie production company, Hiro’s Omakase, aiming to explore narratives rooted in Japan, Korea, and the U.S. This move capitalizes on Kim’s extensive background, which includes years of building relationships within these key markets after establishing himself through Japan and gaining education in the States.
Kim’s career includes over a decade at Lovett Management, representing talent, before transitioning to production in 2020, where he partnered with Kunal Nayyar. The Big Bang Theory star enlisted Kim to co-manage Good Karma Productions, where Kim has played a pivotal role overseeing creative development, including scripted series and unscripted content. Currently, Good Karma is working on a project starring Nayyar in collaboration with Miramax.
Following Kim’s departure, Good Karma has elevated Logan Kovarick from Director of Development to Vice President, tasked with managing the expanding development portfolio.
Under the Hiro’s Omakase umbrella, Kim intends to maintain involvement in select projects, which include the adaptation of “Angel Island: Immigrant Gateway to America” authored by Erika Lee and Judy Yung. Additionally, he is contributing to the Broadway production of “The Lost Boys” and is invested in an untitled feature by Ketchup Entertainment.
“I am eternally grateful to Kunal for nearly two decades of an incredible partnership,” said Kim. “As I direct my energy towards this new initiative, we will continue to collaborate in significant and impactful ways.”
Nayyar expressed, “Jason has been a crucial part of my career for over 20 years, and it brings me joy to see him embark on this new path. We will keep collaborating on various projects in the future.”
