Video from Former President Bill Clinton’s 4-hour-long deposition probing his connection with Jeffrey Epstein has just been released. In the deposition, Clinton provided more context for his now-infamous hot tub photo. He mentioned that the photo, taken without his knowledge, showed him at a hotel in Brunei on the final leg of an Asian tour for his AIDS initiative.
During the questioning, Clinton revealed that he had a good relationship with the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, during his time in the Oval Office. When the Sultan learned that Clinton was coming to his country, he expressed his desire to help with the former president’s AIDS initiative. The Sultan specifically requested Clinton to stay at a particular hotel and use the pool during his visit.
“So I did,” Clinton stated. “And then I got out and went to bed exhausted.”
In the photo, Clinton can be seen swimming in the pool and lounging in the hot tub. He clarified that he did not know the young woman who was photographed with him in the water, but he asserted that she was not younger than 18. Clinton also emphasized that he did not have any sexual relations with the woman and recalled that a Secret Service agent was present in the pool area.
Clinton has previously defended himself, stating that he “saw nothing and did nothing wrong.” He also mentioned that by the time Epstein pleaded guilty in Florida in 2008, he had already ceased all association with Epstein.
The release of the video and Clinton’s explanations shed light on the circumstances surrounding the viral hot tub photo. Despite the controversies surrounding the image, Clinton maintains his innocence and insists that his actions were in line with the Sultan’s wishes during his visit to Brunei.
