Bill Maher Stands Firm in Defense of Woody Allen
Bill Maher recently spoke out in support of Woody Allen, expressing his disappointment that Allen did not share more stories about his illustrious career during a recent interview. Maher praised Allen’s 2020 memoir, Apropos of Nothing, calling it “amazing” and wishing that Allen had shared more of his insights during their conversation.
Despite Allen’s advanced age, Maher defended the legendary filmmaker against criticism, particularly in response to HBO’s 2021 docuseries Allen V. Farrow. Maher went as far as to criticize his own network for producing the documentary, which he felt presented only one side of the story.
While many have pointed to the documentary as evidence of Allen’s guilt, Maher remained steadfast in his belief in Allen’s innocence. He argued that the docuseries primarily reflected Mia Farrow’s perspective and failed to provide a balanced portrayal of the situation.
During a conversation with comedian David Spade, Maher reiterated his support for Allen, stating, “Well, but he’s not” guilty of the accusations leveled against him. Maher’s unwavering defense of Allen highlights his commitment to standing by his beliefs, even in the face of controversy.
