The Black Caps secured a series sweep against West Indies with Mark Chapman and Michael Bracewell leading the way in a thrilling victory in Hamilton.

Despite a shaky start in the chase of 162, New Zealand found stability as Chapman and Bracewell put on a crucial 75-run partnership to guide them to victory. Chapman’s knock of 64 off 63 balls, which included two sixes, set the stage for Bracewell to finish unbeaten on 40 off 31 balls.

The Kiwis had earlier restricted the West Indies to 161 all out, with Matt Henry’s four-wicket haul doing most of the damage. Zak Foulkes’ crucial dismissal of Shai Hope for 16 further dented the visitors’ chances.

With the one-day series wrapped up, both teams now shift their focus to the upcoming test series. The West Indies have recalled veteran fast bowler Kemar Roach to lead their attack, while New Zealand prepares to host the first test at Hagley Oval on December 2.

Roach returns for test series

With injuries ruling out Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph, the West Indies have turned to Roach for experience in the upcoming test series. The squad, featuring a mix of seasoned players and newcomers like Ojay Shields, aims to make an impact on the challenging New Zealand pitches.

As part of the ICC World Test Championship, both teams have much at stake in the upcoming series, with the West Indies looking to climb the standings and New Zealand eager to make their mark after a delayed start.
