The United States of America emerged victorious in the Summer of Hockey tournament held in Dunedin this afternoon. They secured a 2-1 victory over the Black Sticks, concluding the tournament unbeaten at the McMillan Centre.

A dedicated crowd braved the persistent rain to support the teams in the final match.

Elizabeth Yeagar assisted Abigail Tamer in scoring late in the first half, giving the United States a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Hannah Cotter of the Black Sticks equalized the score 1-1 early in the third quarter, but Sophia Gladieux’s late goal in the same quarter put the United States ahead 2-1.

Despite a late disallowed goal, the Black Sticks fought hard till the end.

In the bronze medal match, New Zealand A emerged victorious by defeating Japan 1-0 in the prelude to the final.
