The highly anticipated prequel series, “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” has been officially renewed for a second season even before its premiere on Starz on August 8. Production for Season 2 is already in full swing in Scotland.
Showrunner and executive producer, Matthew B. Roberts, expressed his excitement for the upcoming season, stating, “The passion and talent our cast and crew have poured into ‘Outlander: Blood of my Blood’ has been extraordinary and we’re thrilled to continue these epic love stories in Season Two. Just as audiences fell in love with Jamie and Claire, we hope viewers will be enamored by these new couples when they meet them this summer.”
The series follows the romantic tales of Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, as well as Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp. Set against the backdrop of World War I and 18th century Scotland, these fated couples must navigate challenges and obstacles to stay together, leading to unexpected twists and turns.
The stellar cast includes Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Hermione Corfield, Jeremy Irvine, Tony Curran, Rory Alexander, Séamus McLean Ross, Sam Retford, and Conor MacNeill. The expansion of the Outlander universe in “Blood of my Blood” has been praised by Starz’s president of programming, Kathryn Busby, who believes that fans, both old and new, will be drawn to the powerful love stories portrayed in this next chapter.
In addition to Roberts, other executive producers include Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg. Sony Pictures Television is the studio behind the production of the series.
