Bob Barker, the iconic game show host, has finally received a grave marker at his final resting place, 13 months after his passing. RadarOnline.com has obtained exclusive photos of the headstone recently placed at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Los Angeles, where Barker was laid to rest near the late Friends star, Matthew Perry.
The bronze stone plaque, adorned with a single red rose, simply reads “Robert W. Barker 1923 – 2023,” commemorating the legendary host’s life and legacy. Despite Barker’s status as a beloved figure in the entertainment industry for decades, his death was not publicly memorialized.
Following his wishes, Barker’s friends and family refrained from holding a funeral or memorial service after his passing at the age of 99. His longtime publicist, Roger Neal, revealed that the TV legend had requested a private burial, stating, “He just felt that should be something very private. So we’re just following his wishes. He wanted the burial to be private.”
Bob Barker was laid to rest next to his late wife, Dorothy Jo, who tragically passed away from lung cancer at the age of 57 in 1981. Neal confirmed that the couple would now rest side by side at Forest Lawn cemetery in the Hollywood hills.
Known for his passion for animal rights, Barker’s philanthropic efforts extended beyond his lifetime. He generously donated the majority of his $70 million estate to animal rights organizations and military charities. His dedication to animal advocacy was evident in his work on The Price is Right, where he consistently promoted the importance of spaying and neutering pets to reduce stray populations.
In 2010, Barker’s contributions led to the purchase of a ship by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to combat Japanese whaling operations, naming it the MY Bob Barker in his honor. He also donated $2.5 million to PETA, which was used to establish the Bob Barker Building.
Bob Barker’s legacy as a game show host and animal activist continues to inspire and impact the community, ensuring that his commitment to making the world a better place lives on.
