A 19-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree murder following a deadly stabbing at a residence in Jefferson Park on Sunday evening, as reported by the Denver Police Department.

Law enforcement officers were called to the scene of the stabbing at a home on North Federal Boulevard around 5:21 p.m. where they discovered an individual with severe injuries caused by a sharp object, according to a statement released by the police department.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the victim will be disclosed by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.

The suspect, George Vigil, was apprehended by officers. It is believed that Vigil was acquainted with the victim and that an altercation between the two escalated into a physical confrontation resulting in the stabbing.

Vigil is currently being held at the Downtown Detention Center. Details regarding his bail and upcoming court appearance have not been made public at this time.
