Illinois Motorist Crashes Into Police SUV During Traffic Stop

A shocking incident unfolded in Fairview Heights, Illinois, when Keajion L. Jennings, a 28-year-old motorist, intentionally rammed his gray 2018 Chevrolet Camaro into the rear of a police SUV that was engaged in a traffic stop. Witnesses and body camera footage reveal Jennings’ bizarre explanation for the reckless act—he claimed to have been “bored” and expressed his disdain for law enforcement.

The footage shows an officer exiting his vehicle to engage with the stopped motorists when Jennings collided with the patrol car, narrowly missing the officer by mere inches and risking fatal injury. Moments after the crash, Jennings emerged from his damaged vehicle, bewilderingly asking the officer, “What happened?”

“You tell me?” the responding officer retorted, to which Jennings replied, “I need a new car.” Following this, the officer instructed him to sit on the sidewalk while awaiting medical attention to assess his condition.

Despite attempts to get up, Jennings obeyed the officer’s commands to remain seated. When questioned about the incident, he confessed, “I’ve been drinking… and I took some weed pills,” further indicating he had collided with intention.

In a surprising confession, Jennings acknowledged that he “did that on purpose.”

When pressed about his motives, Jennings nonchalantly admitted to the officer, “Yeah, I did,” confirming that his actions were premeditated. “I hate cops,” he stated, highlighting a disturbing mindset as emergency backup arrived.

Ultimately, Jennings was handcuffed and arrested, with authorities taking him into custody at the St. Clair County Jail. The incident resulted in no injuries, and the other motorists involved in the stop merely received a warning for expired tags.

Jennings’s actions reportedly caused over $10,000 in damage to the police vehicle.

According to reports from the Belleville News-Democrat, Jennings inflicted significant damage, totaling more than $10,000 to the squad car. The Fairview Heights Police Department has charged Jennings with multiple offenses, including one count of Criminal Damage to Government Property, two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, and one count of Aggravated Battery with a Motor Vehicle.

In light of Jennings’s actions and perceived threat to public safety, the St. Clair County authorities are pursuing measures to detain him pending trial, as the Illinois State Police conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
