A tragic incident unfolded in a quiet neighborhood in Queens, where a 16-year-old boy has been charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of a teenage girl. Deaza Barkley, 17, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to her head inside a home on Clover Place in Jamaica. The young girl, who had aspirations of joining the Air Force, was the victim of this heartbreaking event.

The alleged shooter, also a teenager, was taken into custody by the authorities and is facing charges of manslaughter and gun possession. Reports suggest that the shooting may have been accidental, as the young boy claimed that the gun went off unintentionally while he was playing with it. The incident occurred at his grandfather’s house, where he had invited Barkley over when no one else was home.

Upon realizing what had happened, the boy called his father, who sent his brother to investigate the situation. The brother discovered the tragic scene and informed their father, who promptly contacted emergency services. Despite efforts to save her, Barkley was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

The relationship between the two teenagers remains unclear, leaving friends and family of Barkley shocked and devastated by her untimely death. Her mother revealed that Barkley was preparing to graduate high school and had plans to pursue a career in the Air Force. Described as a well-behaved and loving individual, Barkley was known for her passion for dancing and her involvement as a cheerleader in high school.

A family friend, who had recently visited from Florida for a wedding, expressed confusion and sorrow upon learning of the tragic event. The friend highlighted Barkley’s positive attributes and emphasized her lack of involvement in any trouble. With an older sister and a younger brother, Barkley’s family and community are left grappling with the loss of a promising young life.
