Netflix has given the green light to a new series adaptation of the iconic novel “The Boys From Brazil.” The show will be led by Jeremy Strong, known for his role in “Succession,” and will feature a star-studded cast including Gillian Anderson, Daniel Brühl, August Diehl, Lizzy Caplan, and Shira Haas. The streaming giant has ordered five one-hour episodes, with production set to begin in December in various locations including the UK, Germany, Bulgaria, and Spain.
The official logline of the series sets the stage for a thrilling and intense storyline. It follows Holocaust survivor and Nazi hunter Yakov Liebermann, played by Jeremy Strong, as he embarks on a lifelong mission to bring Nazi fugitives to justice. When one of his proteges uncovers a shocking Nazi plan in Brazil, Liebermann finds himself in a race against time to expose a diabolical project orchestrated by the sadistic Nazi scientist, Doctor Johann-Friedrich Meinhardt, portrayed by August Diehl.
Daniel Brühl takes on the role of Von Harteneck, while Gillian Anderson plays Frieda Steiner. Shira Haas and Lizzy Caplan also star in pivotal roles in the series. The adaptation is penned by Peter Morgan, the mastermind behind the acclaimed series “The Crown,” who also serves as an executive producer. Suzanne Mackie and Simon Heath are also on board as executive producers, along with director Alex Gabassi. Oona O’Beirn and Andy Stebbing round out the team as producers.
