Colorado Launches Digital Passport for “America 250-Colorado 150” Celebration

Colorado recently announced the introduction of a digital passport as part of the state’s “America 250-Colorado 150” commemoration. This initiative allows residents to access exclusive discounts and offers from a wide range of local businesses, parks, and landmarks.

The digital passport is set to soft-launch this summer, with a full rollout scheduled for 2026, as stated in a news release from the America 250-Colorado 150 Commission. The passport will showcase destinations in all 64 counties, featuring challenges that offer participants points, discounts, and badges, according to Tim Wolfe, commission co-chair and director of the Colorado Tourism Office.

Tim Wolfe emphasized the inclusive nature of the program, stating, “This is a broad-based experience for everybody to look at all four corners of our state.”

This digital passport is being launched in conjunction with the celebration of 250 years of American independence and 150 years of Colorado statehood in 2026, as highlighted in the news release.

The passport will be accessible for free through the myColorado app or Colorado.com, with the goal of inspiring residents and visitors to explore different parts of the state that they may not have had the opportunity to visit before.

Jason Hanson, chief creative officer at History Colorado and a member of the America 250-Colorado 150 Commission, expressed the importance of encouraging people to discover new places within the state. He stated, “We thought this was a great opportunity to encourage people to get out and see those places, to actually get there.”

Aside from the digital passport, the commission is introducing 12 signature initiatives, including Stories in the Sky and Colorado Heritage for All. These initiatives aim to promote historic preservation and enrich the cultural experience for residents and visitors.

Furthermore, the program will offer various passports focusing on different themes, such as music and Colorado parks, each with unique businesses and destinations offering their own incentives.

Wolfe also unveiled the Do Colorado Right passport, which will be launched later this year to promote environmental efforts like using public transportation.

United Airlines has shown support for the program by serving as the passport’s primary sponsor. BJ Youngerman, managing director of global market strategy and community impact for United Airlines, expressed the airline’s pride in supporting Colorado’s digital passport and celebrating the state’s upcoming milestone anniversary.
