Brad Arnold, the lead singer and founding member of 3 Doors Down, has passed away at the age of 47. The band confirmed the sad news in an Instagram post, stating that Arnold died peacefully in his sleep after a courageous battle with kidney cancer.
Arnold was known for his iconic songs such as “Kryptonite,” “Here Without You,” and “When I’m Gone,” which became cultural touchstones for a generation. The band revealed that Arnold wrote “Kryptonite” when he was just 15 years old, and it went on to become their breakout hit.
In addition to his musical legacy, Arnold made headlines for performing “Kryptonite” at an event for President Donald Trump’s inauguration in 2017. The band’s business manager, Angus Vail, explained that their decision to perform was influenced by their conservative backgrounds and differing political beliefs.
Earlier this year, Arnold publicly announced his cancer diagnosis, revealing that he had stage four clear cell renal carcinoma that had spread to his lungs. Despite the grim prognosis, he remained positive and continued to fight until the end.
