Brandon Maxwell’s Latest Collection: A Departure from the Runway
Brandon Maxwell made a bold decision this season by opting out of a traditional runway show. Instead of showcasing extravagant looks with novelty prints and sequined florals, he focused on creating timeless pieces that exude sophistication and elegance.
The absence of flashy elements does not make his new collection basic by any means. Maxwell’s attention to detail and innovative design techniques shine through in every piece. The velvet blazer featured in the lookbook stands out with its sculptural silhouette, thanks to a neoprene backing. Cashmere sweaters are elevated with sexy cut-outs and luxe silver hardware, adding a modern twist to classic knitwear.
Maxwell’s trousers and jeans are not your ordinary bottoms. With inverted pleats on the outside of the legs, they boast generous proportions and a unique silhouette. Skirts in the collection are adorned with hand-cut fil coupé strings or laser-cut leather strips, adding a touch of glamour to any ensemble.
One of the standout pieces from the collection is the tuxedo bib shirt, available in white cotton or black nappa leather, complete with cummerbund-like integral scarves. The car coats with faux shearling collars offer both style and functionality, making them a must-have for the season.
While Maxwell may have strayed from the traditional runway format, his latest collection proves that less is indeed more. By focusing on quality craftsmanship and timeless designs, he has created a lineup that exudes sophistication and luxury.
