NBC Los Angeles reported:
A sister-in-law of former U.S. Senator and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was found dead Friday night in a Valencia parking garage, per the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities responded around 8:30 p.m. after receiving distress calls about an individual deceased inside the garage on Town Center Drive, located in the community north of Los Angeles. Law enforcement sources noted that she either fell or jumped from a five-story parking structure, resulting in her death at the scene.
The garage is situated in close proximity to the Hyatt Regency hotel.
The medical examiner’s office confirmed Carrie Romney’s identity, though a cause of death had yet to be released as of Monday afternoon.
It is worth noting that in September 2023, Mitt Romney publicly declared that he would not pursue reelection to the U.S. Senate, stating, “At the end of another term, I’d be in my mid-80s.” He emphasized the need for “a new generation of leaders” to make critical decisions for the future they will inhabit.
