Former President Donald Trump Wins Florida’s 30 Electoral Votes
Florida, once a battleground state, has firmly shifted to a red state with former President Donald Trump projected as the winner of its 30 electoral votes.
Trump’s victory in Florida in both the 2016 and 2020 elections solidifies the state as a Republican stronghold.
The race was called at 8 p.m. with 81.9% of the expected vote reported.
Several factors contributed to Florida’s shift to the Republican Party, including a higher influx of Republicans compared to Democrats, a significant GOP voter registration advantage, a national political realignment attracting non-college educated voters to the Republican side, a growing conservative Hispanic population, a weak Democratic Party presence in the state, and influential GOP figures shaping the political landscape.
“It is home to Trump, the MAGA leader, and Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has done more than any governor to carry the GOP’s new culture war agenda, starting with the battles over COVID policies and continuing through education fights and all manner of crusades against ‘woke,’” the report continued.
The Trump family is celebrating election night in Florida at their Mar-a-Lago residence.
At 8 p.m. EST, Trump had secured 105 electoral votes, while Harris had 72.
