Brexton Busch, the son of NASCAR veteran Kyle Busch, made headlines on Wednesday night after winning a dirt race at Millbridge Speedway. The nine-year-old rising star drove the No. 18B SERVPRO car for Kyle Busch Motorsports (now under the banner of Spire Motorsports) and secured first and third place in the two-race event at the quarter-mile oval in Salisbury, North Carolina.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Brexton began his racing career in 2020 in the Beginner Box Stock category at Millbridge Speedway and Mountain Creek Speedway. Since then, he has achieved remarkable success, clinching over 70 victories across the country in various divisions such as Outlaw Karts, Bandoleros, Jr. Sprints, and Restricted Micros. By October 2023, Brexton had accumulated more than 30 wins in 11 different tracks spanning eight states.
In contrast to Brexton’s recent triumphs, his father Kyle Busch has faced a challenging season in the NASCAR Cup Series. The 63-time Cup Series winner has not secured a victory since June 4, 2023, and currently sits in 17th place in the standings, 93 points behind the provisional playoff cutline. With the playoffs looming, Busch needs a win at either the upcoming Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway or the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway to secure his playoff berth.
Despite his winless streak, Busch showed promise in a recent race at Michigan, where he finished fourth, won Stage 1, and led 24 laps. His team, Richard Childress Racing, has one victory this season courtesy of teammate Austin Dillon at Richmond. However, Dillon’s playoff spot was revoked due to a controversial race-winning move that involved spinning Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano.
As the NASCAR season progresses, all eyes will be on Kyle Busch as he aims to secure a playoff spot and potentially add to his impressive career wins tally. Meanwhile, Brexton Busch continues to make a name for himself as a talented young driver with a bright future in the world of motorsports.
