The Boston Bruins are facing a crucial offseason with a number of restricted free agents to address. However, one player who stands out among them is Morgan Geekie, who had a breakout season with 33 goals and 57 points in 77 games. Geekie’s performance has caught the attention of the Bruins’ management, who are eager to secure his services for the long term.

General Manager Don Sweeney has been in constant communication with Geekie’s camp since the end of the season, indicating a strong desire to reach a deal. While the specifics of the contract are still being negotiated, Sweeney hinted that it could be anywhere from one to eight years in length. The team is keen to avoid any potential offer sheets from other teams and is focused on locking up their emerging star.

Geekie, who has one year left as a restricted free agent, is hoping to avoid arbitration with the Bruins. In an interview, he expressed a preference for reaching a mutual agreement with the team rather than going through the arbitration process. Both sides are aware of the challenges that arbitration can present and are motivated to find a resolution before the start of training camp.

Negotiating contracts is an inevitable part of professional sports, and Geekie understands the business aspect of the NHL. While he hopes to avoid any contentious negotiations, he acknowledges that both sides have to make decisions in the best interest of their respective parties. Ultimately, finding a mutually beneficial agreement before the start of the season would be the ideal outcome for everyone involved.

The Bruins are looking to secure Geekie’s future with the team and avoid any potential contract disputes. With both sides motivated to find a resolution, there is optimism that a deal can be reached without the need for arbitration. As the offseason progresses, all eyes will be on the negotiations between Geekie and the Bruins as they work towards securing his long-term future with the team.
