Authorities have apprehended three individuals in connection with a series of break-ins in Pegasus, located north of Christchurch.

According to police reports, the burglaries took place at two different commercial establishments on Pegasus Main St on Friday, August 30, and Sunday, September 15.

During the incident on Sunday around 1:50 am, the suspects utilized a tool to force entry into the premises and focused on stealing cash, alcohol, vapes, and cigarettes.

Law enforcement officers discovered two stolen vehicles abandoned in the vicinity.

“After conducting a thorough investigation, which involved reviewing CCTV footage and locating the stolen vehicles, police conducted a search at a residence in Riccarton. This led to the recovery of numerous items that were taken during the burglaries,” a police spokesperson stated.

“One juvenile appeared in Christchurch Youth Court today, while an 18-year-old woman is scheduled to appear in Christchurch District Court on September 20. Both individuals are facing charges related to burglary and possession of stolen goods.

“Another juvenile has been referred to Youth Aid for further action.

“Authorities are pleased with the progress made in this case and urge the public to take necessary precautions to secure their businesses, such as installing security measures like CCTV cameras or wireless alert systems.”
