A man was involved in an attempt to entice a young girl with candy in Lincoln Park on Saturday morning. A bystander intervened, prompting the suspect to flee, as stated in a Chicago police alert.

The incident took place at approximately 9:47 a.m. in the 2600 block of North Clark Street. Chicago Police Department (CPD) reported that the man approached the girl, attempting to persuade her to buy or accept candy, until a witness intervened, causing him to leave the scene.

The suspect is described as being between 40 and 49 years old, of unknown race, standing between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing around 150 pounds. At the time, he was wearing a white baseball cap, sunglasses, a buttoned-down blue-checkered shirt, tan shorts, and black gym shoes with white soles.

Area Three Detectives are urging anyone with information to call 312-744-8266 or submit an anonymous tip at CPDTIP.com, referencing report number JK188969.

CWBChicago was established in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the inaccurate information being shared at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage has expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side areas. However, our mission remains the same: to deliver original public safety reporting with greater context and detail than mainstream media outlets.
