Katie Porter, the Democratic candidate for governor of California, avoided confirming whether more footage exists of her outbursts towards staff, following the circulation of several controversial clips showcasing her volatile temper last week.
During an exclusive interview with “Inside California Politics” host Nikki Laurenzo, published on Tuesday, the former congresswoman sidestepped multiple inquiries regarding the potential presence of additional videos depicting her explosive reactions.
The 51-year-old politician acknowledged her need for improvement in response to the videos, which include an instance where she was seen yelling at a female staff member.
“To be frank, that video was from several years ago, and I did apologize to that staff member, which is very important for me, and I strive to do better,” Porter shared with Laurenzo, maintaining a surprisingly composed demeanor during the exchange, as noted in a clip shared by the outlet on X.
“That’s the commitment I can make.”
The contentious lawmaker referenced previously surfaced footage where she was recorded reprimanding a female staff member with a demand to “get out of my f–king shot” during a July 2021 Zoom meeting with the Biden administration focused on environmental strategies.
Porter, who aims to succeed term-limited Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom in the election scheduled for November 3, was also spotted giving a piercing look to a colleague after chastising her team regarding a lighting problem during another 2021 Zoom conversation.
The rediscovered footage gained significant attention last week following a heated exchange between Porter and CBS reporter Julie Watts, prompting outrage on social media as the former congresswoman strangely claimed that the journalist was being “unnecessarily combative” when asked about the challenges of winning over Trump supporters.

Following the intense interview, which aired on October 6, the fiery Orange County representative attempted to walk out.
“Reflecting on those videos, I want everyone to realize that I acknowledge I could have managed those situations with more grace,” Porter stated when confronted about her infamous temper.
“I believe many see me as someone capable of handling difficult inquiries and willing to engage openly, and I want them to recognize that I genuinely appreciate the remarkable contributions of my team.
“Those who are familiar with me understand that I can be demanding, yet I must improve in showing gratitude for the exceptional work my team accomplishes.”
Porter, leading in the polls for the governorship, emphasized her determination to regain voters’ confidence after facing significant backlash from opponents, political figures, and online commentators who urged her to withdraw from the race.
“I’m committed to winning their votes and rebuilding their trust,” said Porter, who has a past incident where she allegedly dumped hot mashed potatoes on her then-husband.
“I take full responsibility for my actions, and I will not shy away from advocating fiercely for California. This is not a moment where we can rely on the status quo.”
