California man charged with murder after being released from jail for mental health reasons
A California man, Jordan Murray, is facing murder charges after allegedly stabbing a 40-year-old man to death in the Fair Oaks area. This incident occurred just six months after Murray was released from jail due to mental health reasons.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office stated that Murray had been involved in two violent robberies in May and June 2024, leading to his incarceration. However, he was released in November 2024 under a mental health diversion program.
On the night of the murder, deputies responded to an assault on Fair Oaks Boulevard and found the victim with multiple stab wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Investigations revealed that Murray had engaged in a physical altercation with the victim earlier that day, which escalated when they encountered each other again. Murray allegedly pulled out a knife and fatally wounded the victim.

Murray was apprehended in South Sacramento County and taken into custody without resistance. The sheriff’s office also disclosed that he had committed previous robberies by spraying employees with a chemical before fleeing the scene.

Currently, Murray is held without bail at the Sacramento County Main Jail, facing charges of murder and felony robbery in addition to his previous offenses. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday for further proceedings.
